Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux believes coming away from St Mary’s with a clean sheet and a point is an encouraging sign for Swansea City.

The Chile international helped secure a third shutout of the campaign to date as the Swans shared the spoils with a Saints side who were in the Premier League last term.

The Swans had to deal with spells of pressure from the hosts, particularly during the latter stages of the first half.

But they were able to keep Southampton at bay and put another valuable point on the board.

And over the course of the season, Vigouroux believes results like Saturday’s can be very important.

“I think that was a point we can be happy with,” he said.

“We’ve come away from home against a team who were in the Premier League last season, and who have a lot of quality.

“So to keep a clean sheet and put a point on the board is a positive and something we should be encouraged by.

“Every game and every challenge in the Championship is different and you have to be able to deal with that and find ways to put points on the board and get results.

“It was a very tough game but we have come away with a deserved point.”
