Leroy Fer: Swansea City must build on Manchester City display
25th September
Leroy Fer has urged Swansea City to pick up where they left off against Manchester City when they take on Liverpool next weekend.
Francesco Guidolin's men went down 3-1 on their own patch as Premier League leaders City made it 10 wins out of 10 so far this season.
But the scoreline did not tell the full story of a game where the Swans matched their star-studded opponents for long periods.
Guidolin believes his side will soon start climbing the table if they maintain the standards set against City.
And Fer agreed with his boss, saying: "Four points from six games is not the Swansea level, but I think we showed this weekend what we are about.
"Now we need to continue to show that in the coming games.
"Manchester City are a strong team who play very good football.
"We responded well after they scored their opening goal but did not have enough in us to take anything from the match.
"If we keep playing like this, though, I think we will turn results around. We are creating chances, but we must make sure we take them and scored the goals."
Behind early on to a Sergio Aguero goal, the Swans quickly levelled through Fernando Llorente.
But Aguero's penalty restored City's advantage before Raheem Sterling sealed the Etihad giants' win late on.
"It was a good game and I thought we played well," added Fer.
"If it was against another team, I think we would have earned a point."
