'Let's build momentum'

28th September

Gary Richards reckons Swansea City Under-23s have momentum going into their Premier League 2 clash with Manchester City at Landore on Saturday (3pm).

The development side are on a three-match unbeaten run in all competitions and showed fantastic character to snatch a point in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal B in the Premier League International Cup.

Richards is hopeful the young Swans can build on that result as they aim to record their first league win of the season.

And he feels the players must produce their optimum performance levels if they are to put more points on the board.

“It’s nice to go into the game with a bit of momentum,” the under-23s coach said. “Hopefully, we can build on the way we finished against Villarreal.

“To be welcoming teams like Villarreal and Manchester City to Landore is great for the academy.

“It’s another game we are looking forward to. Games like these are the reason we want to be in this league.

“We know they’re going to have plenty of quality throughout their team. We need to make sure we’re at our best so that we’re competitive and have every chance of getting something out of the game.”
