Liam Cullen insists he will be ready to contribute whenever Swansea City need him after his fantastic late strike helped secure a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Wales international came off the bench to deliver the crucial moment of the game, whipping a curling left-footed strike inside the near post from 20 yards.

It helped secure a second three-point haul in four days for the Swans and Cullen, who has had to be patient in terms of game time this season, but the 26-year-old will seek to make an impact whenever given the opportunity.

“Every player in the squad wants to start every game and hopefully play a part in bringing success to this club,” he said.

“But one thing the manager has been really strong on, is making clear that we are going to need everyone, and everyone knows whatever the situation I will always do everything I can to try and help the team win.

“Obviously it’s a really nice feeling to come on and do that.

“We hope we can carry this momentum forward, we looked at these two home games as games we needed to go and win with the situation we were in.

“It has given us a benchmark to work towards and it can give us some confidence.”

Cullen also revealed the reason behind his goal celebration, which was the idea of his five-year-old nephew Harry.

“I think some people were questioning what it is from the picture, but it’s for my nephew Harry and my niece Harper,” he added.

“Harry is football mad, he is five and he came up with the celebration for me to do when I score. If I score and I don’t do it he is on to me pretty quickly on the phone the next day so I had to make sure I dedicated that goal to both of them.”
