Liam Cullen was proud of the reaction Swansea City produced to end a tough week on a high with victory at Blackburn Rovers.

The forward grabbed the winner at Ewood Park to give the Swans a first win at the ground since 1971.

It saw Swansea return to winning ways after defeats against Leicester and Watford, and they are now unbeaten in their last four away games, winning three in a row.

And Cullen felt there was plenty for the visitors to take from a display where they dug in together to secure the three points.

“It was really important to get a reaction like that. We felt we performed well against Leicester, but we let our standards drop in midweek, and we have responded and got the result,” he said.

“It’s our first win here in 52 years, so it is a big win for us. It may not have been as pretty as we would have wanted it to be, we were a little bit scrappy in the second half, but we dug in and three points is three points.

“A lot of the lads have mentioned how together we are as a group, and I think games like this show it.

“We get on so well, and have fun together, but we also enjoy working hard together.

Liam Cullen celebrates

“It’s really rewarding when you get a win like that.”

Cullen’s goal was his second of the Championship season and was an excellent strike.

After good pressing had won the ball back deep in Blackburn’s half, the ball was worked right to Cullen, who cut inside onto his left foot and curled a strike into the far corner of the net.

“It’s a really nice feeling, as soon as the pass came into me there was only one thing in my mind. I knew I was going to take a touch inside and go for that far corner,” he added.

“Thankfully for me it went in the back of the net, it was good to good to be back on the scoresheet and I hope that can continue.”
