Lily Deacon ready for senior football step-up

Swansea City Women’s midfielder Lily Deacon is relishing the opportunity to make the step up to senior football following her move to the club.

Deacon has been training with the first team since the latter stages of the 2025-26 season and has been fully involved throughout pre-season after joining from the FAW Academy South.

The midfielder has also represented Wales at youth level and becomes head coach Yzzy Taylor's first signing ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

She also becomes the second Deacon in the squad, linking up with older sister Aimee, who joined the Swans in 2024.

Deacon is eager to experience senior football for the first time and is looking forward to working with Taylor once again, having previously played under the Swans head coach. She is also excited by the prospect of learning from the experienced players within the squad as she begins the next chapter of her career.

"I'm really excited to be here. I started out with the FAW, so this is obviously a big step up, but I feel ready to get going.

"I played with Maddy Murray during my time with the FAW and she's one of my really close friends. With Aimee being here as well, it'll be the first time I've played alongside her, so I'm really looking forward to that.

"When I worked with Yzzy before, she's always been really good with me. She's a very motivational coach who gets the best out of her players and always pushes you to improve, so I'm excited to be working with her again.

"It's my first step into senior football, so it'll be great to play alongside the experienced players here. Chloe Chivers is someone who plays in a similar position to me and she'll be a great role model. I can't wait to learn from her and the rest of the squad.

"I just want to enjoy my football again and hopefully have an injury-free season. The girls had a really good year last season, so I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better and hopefully we can have another successful season, reach another final and compete for trophies.

"I'd describe myself as a very aggressive player. I like to get forward, create chances and score goals."
