Head coach Luke Williams paid tribute to 'true Jack' Joe Allen after the midfielder made his 200th appearance in a Swansea City shirt during last night’s draw at Watford.

The former Wales international replaced Jay Fulton in the 69th minute at Vicarage Road, and helped the Swans secure a point on their travels.

Allen has been ever-present in the squad since Williams was appointed and has been a key figure in the Swans improving form over recent weeks after an injury-hit opening half of the season.

Having joined the club at the age of 10, Allen progressed through the Swansea pathway to reach the first team and help the club reach the Premier League.

He went on to have spells with Liverpool and Stoke, whilst winning 74 caps for Wales, before returning to his boyhood club in the summer of 2022.

Williams was delighted to see Allen reach his landmark, with the Swans boss emphasising not just his fantastic ability on the pitch, but also the relationship he has with the club's supporters.

“I love talking about Joe," Williams said.

"He is incredible and a true Jack, it was lovely to see him come on and have the fans singing about him.

“His play is so smooth, and he reads the game so well and is another player that has sacrificed everything he has in his body for the team, I am very lucky I get the chance to work with him.”
