Head coach Luke Williams wants Swansea City to embrace the opportunity to take another stride in their development when they travel to Premier League Bournemouth in the FA Cup this evening (7.45pm).

The Swans head to take on the Cherries on the south coast after booking their place in the fourth round thanks to a 2-0 victory over Morecambe in Williams’ first game in charge.

The Swans boss knows the task ahead is considerably more difficult this time around against a Bournemouth side who have been in good form in the top-flight, and lost just two of their last 10 games in all competitions; with those reverses coming against Tottenham and Liverpool.

With Williams, his staff and the squad still in the early stages of implementing his methods, the task at hand is a formidable one, but the head coach is clear that he expects his players to face up to the test and seek to continue to build out the positive elements in their performances under him so far.

“It’s going to be another big test for us against a team who are very strong, as you can see from how they have been performing in the Premier League,” he said.

“They have top-flight quality, and we have to be so brave and be ready to go out there and improve our performance levels.

“It’s going to be difficult, we are not at the stage yet where we are fully up to speed in terms of what we are and what we can do.

“So we need to try and build up those performance levels and it’s a great opportunity to do that because we will be testing ourselves against a very good team.”
