Luke Williams feels his Swansea City side have further gears to find and wants them to deliver an improved performance when they face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium this afternoon (3pm).

The Swans head to Teesside on the back of a draw at Sheffield Wednesday and defeat to Queens Park Rangers over the course of the Easter weekend.

The head coach feels the Swans have allowed their levels to dip on the back of their south Wales derby win over Cardiff City, and wants them to ensure there is no repeat of their disappointment against the R’s, saying no-one should be prepared to accept the pain that comes with defeat.

“I want us to win as many games as we possibly can over this final run-in, because I think we can do better than we did against Sheffield Wednesday and we can do better than the QPR game,” he said.

“We have had performances of a certain level, but with a bit more we can get better results.

“We are making the margins smaller, the conversation is different now to the games when I first came in and we played some top teams.

“But I want to see how determined we are to come away from a game with a really good feeling.

“I still have the hangover of a horrible feeling of not winning a game of football on Monday, it’s a brutal feeling and we should not be able to be comfortable knowing that will happen if we don’t win.

“We need to go the extra bit to come away with better results. We can still finish in a respectable position where we know if we improve a bit the next bracket is a very exciting one, that’s all I think about, getting the maximum number of points we can.

“I want us to make sure we are deciding outcomes positively so we finish on the best number we can.

“We have to aim for the best finish we can, we don’t want to settle for being an okay team, that’s soul destroying, we have to go for the maximum.”
