Swansea City forward Maisie Miller was delighted to open her account for the season and said she had full belief the side could come back to win after an early setback in their 5–1 victory over Pontypridd United.

The Swans fell behind to a Maddison Lloyd strike, but Miller levelled the score just 12 minutes later with her first of the season. She then added the first of two quickfire goals early in the second half to all but secure the victory, which was rounded off by a Chloe Chivers finish ten minutes from time.

The result saw the Swans close the gap to second-placed Cardiff to two points, although the Bluebirds still have a game in hand.

Miller was pleased to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season, but admits it was more important that her side showed a strong response after the defeat at Wrexham last week.

“I am really pleased with the result.," said Miller.

“I think it was a great response for us after the defeat to Wrexham last week. We had a good week in training, and coming into the game we knew there would be nothing less than three points to be earned.

“We were disappointed to go one goal down early because then you are chasing the game, but we knew as a team that we have the quality in the squad to not only come back but to win the game comfortably so we had no doubt in our minds that we wouldn’t come back.

“Personally, I am really pleased to get myself on the score sheet and to open my account for the season but most importantly, it was a great team performance.

“It gives us a great foundation to build on and now hopefully we can have another good week in training and look forward to the game against Cardiff next Sunday. We know it will be tough, but we have a lot of belief in ourselves and expect nothing less than progressing to the next round.”
