Man in the Middle: Kevin Friend

13th March
First team

Kevin Friend will take charge of Swansea City’s Emirates FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday (12.15pm).

Friend, from Leicester, will be the man in the middle for a Swans game for the second time this season.

The Swans must hope they have more joy this weekend than when Friend was last in charge of one of their fixtures, for his only other assignment in 2017-18 was the 5-0 mauling at Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Last season, Friend took charge of Swans defeats at West Ham and at home to Bournemouth, as well as the famous victory at Liverpool and the 5-4 thriller at home to Crystal Palace.

He was also the referee when Michael Laudrup's Swans thrashed Bradford in the 2013 Capital One Cup final.

He will be assisted this weekend by Harry Lennard and Adrian Holmes.

The fourth official will be Lee Mason while Stuart Attwell is the VAR.
