Man in the Middle: Kevin Friend

1st May
First team

Kevin Friend will take charge of Swansea City’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

Friend, from Leicester, will be the man in the middle for a Swans game for the third time this season.

And the Swans must hope they finally have some joy with Friend at the helm this weekend after defeats against Liverpool and Tottenham.

Friend was last in charge of the Swans when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Spurs in March, while he also refereed the 5-0 mauling at Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Last season, Friend refereed Swans defeats at West Ham and at home to Bournemouth, as well as the famous victory at Liverpool and the 5-4 thriller at home to Crystal Palace.

He was also the referee when Michael Laudrup's Swans thrashed Bradford in the 2013 Capital One Cup final.

He will be assisted this weekend by Matthew Wilkes and Adrian Holmes, while Anthony Taylor will be the fourth official.
