Marc Guehi eyes home debut

Marc Guehi hopes to feel the full flow of the Liberty atmosphere today when Swansea City host Derby County (3pm).

The defender aims to end his month-long wait for a first appearance in front of the Jack Army at the Liberty as Steve Cooper’s host the Rams.

Guehi, one of three loan signings made during the January transfer window, has started the last two Championship matches – at Stoke and Preston.

He was also on the bench for the goalless draw at Cardiff, while he got a sample of the Jack Army roar while an unused sub for the home win over Wigan last month.

Now he hopes to go one step further and play in front of the Jack Army on home soil.

“I’ve had a few away games now, so I’m really looking forward to playing in front of our fans,” said the Chelsea loanee, who captained England Under-17s to World Cup glory under Cooper in 2017.

“I’ve seen the great support for our away games, so I know how passionate the fans are.

“The first game I was part of was the Cardiff match, and I was told it would be noisy. But all I could hear was our fans – they made an incredible atmosphere.

“I was obviously on the bench for the Wigan game at the Liberty, but I can’t wait to experience playing in front of the home fans. Hopefully that will come this weekend.”
