Marc Guehi was “honoured” to make his Swansea City debut, but wants himself and the team to kick on for the challenges ahead.

The on-loan Chelsea defender made his first senior league appearance as he started Saturday’s defeat at Stoke.

The 19-year-old acquitted himself well, although he could not make a final intervention to prevent James McClean sealing the Potters win in stoppage time.

Guehi was disappointed with that moment, and to see his Swans bow end in defeat.

But he is determined to make sure there are plenty of positive moments to come for he and Swansea.

“I was disappointed with myself for the second goal, but I’ll learn from that and, hopefully, we can move on and bounce back from this,” he said.

“It was disappointing not to get the result that I think our performance deserved.

“It was an interesting experience and a good one for me. It was a great to make my debut and it was a great atmosphere.

“It’s an honour to play for Swansea. I thought I played quite well but was a little unfortunate for the second goal.

“Hopefully, I can go on and make a few more appearances for the club.

“But that starts in training and making sure I keep my head down and keep working hard.

“I’ll keep taking on information and the more opportunities for me, the better.

“I’ll try and take the positives from this. I like to see myself as a perfectionist, so I’ll be very picky when I look back at my performance.

“But it’s important to focus on the positives and move forward.”
