March fires youngsters to victory

23rd April

Swansea City Under-21s returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon.

Kurtis March's second-half strike sealed victory for the young Swans against an experienced Blues side at the Birmingham Training Ground.

Chris Llewellyn's side looked in full control throughout the 90 minutes and were rewarded for their efforts when March hit home in the 70th minute.

Speaking after the game, U21s manager Llewellyn was pleased with his side's display.

"It was a good game," said Llewellyn. "We put out a young development side, and in the first-half Birmingham started some experienced players.

"But the boys rose to the occasion and controlled the game throughout.

"In the first-half, it was a similar story for us as we dominated possession, got ourselves in good positions, but didn't take our chances.

"However, in the second-half, we looked much more of a threat and made it count when Kurtis March scored with 20 minutes to go.

"Overall, it was a really good test for our boys, and we thoroughly deserved the win."
