Matt Grimes hails "fantastic" win
Captain Matt Grimes hailed Swansea City's “fantastic” victory over Norwich City as Steve Cooper’s men moved up to second in the Championship table.
Goals from Andre Ayew and Conor Hourihane either side of half-time sealed victory as they cut the gap to the league leaders to just two points.
The win saw the Swans make it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, as well going 12 matches without defeat on home soil.
And the skipper was full of praise for his team-mates following a fine victory over the Canaries.
“I think we're in a really good place at the moment,” said Grimes.
“These are exciting times ahead, but we just focus on one game at a time and see where it takes us. We're in a great spot and it was a fantastic win. Two goals and a clean sheet - happy days.”
The win saw the Swans chalk up their 15th clean sheet in the league this season; they currently have the best defensive record in the EFL.
And Grimes was quick to heap praise on the collective effort following another shut out on home soil.
“The gaffer's now had 18 months or so to implement the way he wants us to work, and you're seeing it every day on the pitch,” he said.
“We're a solid team and tough to break down. When we were two goals up, they were having a little bit more of the ball than what we'd like, but it's natural and we defended well to see out the clean sheet.”
The win over Norwich saw Ayew open the scoring – the Ghanaian’s first goal in six games.
Meanwhile, on-loan Hourihane's strike means he has scored in each of his first three league games – the first Swans player to record that feat at since Michu in 2012.
“Andre's a top-class player,” said Grimes. “He knows that a goal is just around the corner if he hasn't scored for a couple of games. I'm pleased for him and pleased for the team getting the three points.
“With Conor we come to expect it three games in! He's obviously got a fantastic left foot and if you give him space and time that far out, he can hurt you.”
