Captain Matt Grimes believes he Is growing and improving all the time while working under head coach Russell Martin at Swansea City.

The Swans skipper has enjoyed an outstanding season so far, with a goal and five assists to his name.

But beyond the statistics, the 27-year-old’s influence and performances have spoken for themselves with so much of Swansea’s play going through the midfielder.

Grimes made the decision to sign a long-term extension to his contract just a few months in to Martin’s tenure, and he feels there is still more to come with the Swans sitting just outside the Championship play-off places at the halfway point of the season.

“I feel I am growing as a player all the time, I feel I am getting better with every game and that goes for every player here,” said Grimes.

“Playing under this manager I just feel like I am learning something new every single training session and every single day.

“It really is incredible, the way he sees the game and the way he passes that down onto us.

“If you look at every player in the squad, you can see how much we have all grown over this last 18 months.

“I think if you consider where we have come from, then to be playing some of the football we are playing at the moment is pretty spectacular.

“We have full faith in each other, 100 per cent. That’s why I was very clear on my decision when I signed a new contract here.

“I am very happy, there is a long way to go this season and we will see where it takes us.”
