Captain Matt Grimes wants Swansea City to make sure they go into the play-offs with momentum behind them by finishing the season on a winning note.

Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Reading secured the point required to book the Swans place in the top six for the second season running, and they will be looking to go further than their semi-final defeat to Brentford last term.

After a difficult spell, the Swans have responded by losing just one of their last five fixtures and will now round off the campaign against Derby and Watford before the play-offs begin.

And midfielder Grimes knows how important it will be to make sure they go into the post-season action with positive results behind them.

“Momentum is important. If we can get two good results in the two remaining games then that stands us in good stead for the play-offs,” he said.

“We were disappointed to lose out in the semis last season, but we’ll look to go one step further this time.

“Our performances and results haven’t been consistent of late, so we need to get to the levels we know we can produce and see where it takes us.

“It’s job done in terms of getting into the play-offs, but now we have to finish the season strongly before going into that.”
