Matthew Blake hopes injury woes behind him
Matthew Blake hopes his injury woes are behind him as he looks to kick on at Swansea City.
The left-back recently signed a new two-year contract at the Liberty Stadium, having made 13 appearances in all competitions for the under-23s last term.
Blake, 19, would surely have made more were it not for injury problems, with a combination of back and quad problems keeping him sidelined between September and January, and causing a further six-week absence towards the end of the season.
He was, however, able to return in time for feature in the Premier League Cup semi-final against Everton at the Liberty, and he wants to keep on with a new deal providing the perfect boost for the defender.
“It was a disappointing ending for the season in terms of injury," he said.
“The only positive was getting back just in time for the Premier League Cup semi-final at the Liberty Stadium.
“It was a bit of a stop-start season for me with the injuries but hopefully that is behind me this campaign and I can get a nice rhythm and flow.
“I still have to look to stamp my authority and make the position my own in the team."
