Mawson receives England Under-21s call up

16th March 2017

Swans defender Alfie Mawson has been included in the England Under-21s squad for their forthcoming friendly fixtures against Germany and Denmark.
Mawson has been in impressive form for the Swans, scoring four goals in 17 Premier League appearances which makes him the highest-scoring defender in Europe's top five leagues in 2017.
The 23-year-old is still eligible to feature for his country's U21s side, for whom he won his first cap last November in 3-2 defeat to France.
England's youngsters are in action in Germany on Friday, March 24 (7pm) before travelling to Denmark for another friendly on Monday, March 27 (7pm).

Meanwhile, Oli McBurnie has been called up by Scotland Under-21s for their friendly against Estonia.
The striker, who helped Swans Under-23s to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title this week, is part of Scott Gemmil's plans for the game at St Mirren's Paisley 2021 Stadium on Tuesday, March 28.
