Meet the officials | Birmingham City

6th September
First team

Andy Woolmer will be the man in charge when Swansea City travel to Birmingham City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

This is the second time this season the man from Northamptonshire has been in charge of a Swans game. He was in charge at Bloomfield Road when Olivier Ntcham’s late goal sealed a first win of the season for Russell Martin’s team at Blackpool.

On that day, Woolmer had a fairly busy afternoon handing out four yellow cards with Matt Grimes, Joe Allen and Ntcham booked for Swans and Shayne Lavery booked for Blackpool. He also awarded a penalty against Harry Darling which Andy Fisher saved.

Having first swapped his role as a Premier League assistant referee to begin a journey into refereeing in 2003. Woolmer first took charge of a Swansea City match in 2006 – a League One match against Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium. He’s taken charge of a further 14 Swans matches since then.

In the six matches he has refereed so far this term, he has given out 25 yellow cards and one red.

At St Andrew's, Woolmer will be assisted by George Byrne and Matthew Mcgrath. The fourth official will be Ben Toner.
