Meet the officials | Bristol City

25th October
First team
Andre Marriner

Andre Marriner will be the man in charge when Swansea City face Bristol City on Saturday (midday kick-off).

The Birmingham-based official is extremely experienced having refereed in Europe and at international level.

He made his Premier League debut in November 2004 and four days later took charge of his first Swans match.

That was a League Two affair against Darlington at the Vetch Field. Lee Trundle and Andy Robinson were on the scoresheet in a team which also included current first-team coach Kris O’Leary and former managers Garry Monk and Roberto Martinez.

You have to go back two years – almost to the day – to find the last occasion Marriner blew the whistle at a Swansea City game. On that occasion the Swans hosted Stoke City in SA1 winning 2-0.

Jay Fulton and Kasey Palmer were on the scoresheet – the latter also picked up a booking alongside Matt Grimes.

So far this season, the 51-year-old has taken charge of five games with four of those in the top flight. He has handed out 21 yellow cards and no reds.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Mark Scholes and Akil Howson. Sam Purkiss in the fourth official.
