Meet the officials | Hull City
Josh Smith will be the referee for Swansea City’s Championship clash with Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
The Peterborough-born official followed in the footsteps of his father when he picked up the whistle in 2006 to oversee a Peterborough and District Junior Alliance League game aged just 14.
Nine years later he was added to the EFL Assistant Referee list and completed three years before choosing to specialise as a referee. He received successive promotions and quickly returned to the EFL on the referees list.
Saturday will be the 10th Swans match he has officiated in his career, with the historic 4-0 south Wales derby victory at Cardiff City Stadium in 2022 among that number.
Earlier this season he had the whistle for a defeat at Bristol City and a draw at Southampton.
So far this season, Smith has officiated 18 games handing out 60 yellow cards and two red cards.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Sam Lewis and Callum Gough. Thomas Parsons is the fourth official.
