Meet the officials | Middlesbrough
Matthew Donohue will be the referee when Swansea City take on Middlesbrough at the Swansea.com Stadium on Monday (5.30pm).
This will be the first time he has overseen a Swans match this term. Last season he took charge of one, a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The Manchester-based official climbed the ranks quickly, earning three successive promotions which saw him progress from National League North to the EFL’s List of Referees between 2016 and 2018.
The former primary school teacher first took charge of a Swans match in February 2021 – a 3-2 home defeat to Derby County.
So far this season he has taken charge of 27 matches, handing out 109 yellow cards and eight reds.
On Monday he will be assisted by Alistair Nelson and Hristo Karaivanov. Ben Toner is the fourth official.
