Josh Smith referee

Josh Smith will be the man with the whistle when Swansea City face West Ham United at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The Peterborough-born official followed in his father’s footsteps when he took up refereeing in 2006, overseeing a Peterborough and District Junior Alliance League fixture at the age of just 14.

Nine years later, he was added to the EFL Assistant Referee list, where he spent three years before choosing to specialise as a referee. Following successive promotions, he quickly returned to the EFL as a referee.

Saturday’s fixture will be the 11th Swansea City match Smith has officiated during his career, with the Swans’ memorable 4-0 south Wales derby victory over Cardiff City at Cardiff City Stadium in 2022 among them.

So far this season, Smith has taken charge of seven games, issuing 36 yellow cards and no red cards.

He will be assisted by Adam Nunn and Andrew Fox on Saturday, with Tim Robinson appointed as the fourth official.
