Melker Widell a doubt, but Leo Walta in contention for Swansea City debut
Swansea City will make a late decision on the fitness of Melker Widell ahead of Sunday’s Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
Sweden international Widell missed the win over Watford with a minor quad injury, and is touch and go to be available to face the Owls in SA1, but new signing Leo Walta is in contention to make his Swans debut.
The Finland international joined the Swans on deadline day and has taken a full part in training ahead of a potential home bow.
Winger Zeidane Inoussa and Adam Idah, meanwhile, are recovering from long-term injuries.
“The squad is in good shape,” he said.
“Melker still has a chance to be involved, we will make a decision on that a bit later. His injury is nothing major, so he could be available.
“Leo is fit enough to be involved. He will need time to adapt and adjust and we need to take that into consideration.
“But we can count on him and he is in contention.”
