Swansea City 4 Cardiff City 1 - 26 May, 2021

Swans Women Adran Trophy win

Swansea City Women completed the first half of their silverware double in 2020-21 after a 4-1 victory over Cardiff City Women in the final at Dragon Park.

The Bluebirds took the lead early on through Phoebe Pool after Claire Skinner had saved the initial effort from Catherine Walsh.

However, the Swans found an equaliser five minutes before the break, as Laura Davies' corner was bundled home at the near post by Richardson to bring Swansea level.

Swansea took the lead shortly after the restart, with Hosford finding the back of the net for her ninth goal of the season, as her long-range free-kick sailed over goalkeeper Charlotte Hastings and into the net.

The Swans extended their advantage further when John caught Hastings off her line, squeezing the ball into the far corner from the tightest of angles.

John then sealed the victory with nine minutes remaining, keeping her composure to delicately lift the ball over the onrushing Hastings.

Swansea went on to complete a league and trophy double just a week later, securing a goalless draw against Abergavenny Women to finish one point ahead of Cardiff Metropolitan and clinch the league title.

A five-goal haul from Emily Thomas saw the Swans cruise to a 13-0 victory over Adran North side Llandudno in the first round of the Genero Adran Trophy during the 2023-24 season.

There were six different goalscorers on the day, with Chloe Chivers, Robin Pinder, Stacey John, Katy Hosford and Jessica Williams also getting on the scoresheet in a comprehensive win.

Thomas opened the scoring with her first goal for the club inside just two minutes, before Chivers added a second. Thomas then struck again to give the Swans a three-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

The winger completed her hat-trick just five minutes later with a simple finish from a superb Chivers delivery, before adding her fourth in the 28th minute by converting a cross from Hosford. Forward Pinder then grabbed a brace in the space of eight minutes to send the Swans into the break with a commanding seven-goal advantage.

Swansea showed no signs of easing off after half-time, with Chivers netting her second of the afternoon following an excellent delivery from Thomas.

The provider then turned scorer once more, adding her fifth goal with 20 minutes remaining by firing into the top corner for Swansea’s ninth.

John added a 10th with eight minutes to play, finishing smartly inside the area, before a flurry of three goals in as many minutes saw Hosford and Williams both score their first of the match, with John rounding off the scoring with her second of the afternoon.

Sammy Wynne vs TNS

A Stacey John hat-trick helped Swansea City Women secure their place in the 2023-24 Genero Adran Trophy final with an emphatic 5-1 victory at Park Hall.

Swansea opened the scoring in the sixth minute, with Emily Thomas heading home a cross from Chloe Chivers to give the visitors an early lead.

Sammy Wynne doubled the advantage just eight minutes later, after an initial effort from distance cannoned off the post and fell to the midfielder on the edge of the area, who curled a fantastic 25-yard strike into the top-right corner.

The Swans extended their lead further before the interval, when Thomas picked out John on the edge of the area, with the forward curling a superb low effort in off the inside of the post.

John added her second of the afternoon just after the hour mark with a stunning strike, firing from the right side of the area into the top-left corner to leave the goalkeeper with no chance.

Just two minutes later, John completed her hat-trick in spectacular fashion, stepping up to a free-kick and curling the ball into the top corner to make it 5-0.

The hosts did pull a consolation goal back late on, as Chelsea Herbert produced a smart double save before Chloe Shirley tapped home the rebound into an empty net.

Aimee Deacon vs Wrexham 24-25

Swansea City Women booked their place in a second consecutive Genero Adran Trophy final following a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wrexham at the Rock.

The Swans took the lead after just two minutes, with Robyn Pinder playing Stacey John down the left flank, who drove forward before squaring the ball to Aimee Deacon, who fired home the opener for the visitors.

Deacon was involved once again as Swansea doubled their advantage, with the forward brought down inside the area to win a penalty. John stepped up and converted from 12 yards to give the Swans a two-goal lead heading into the interval.

Wrexham found a response just after the hour mark, with the ball falling to Carra Jones on the right side of the area, who produced a superb lobbed effort over goalkeeper Charlie Haynes and into the net.

Swansea restored their two-goal cushion 20 minutes later, as a low delivery from Emily Thomas was missed by Wrexham goalkeeper Delyth Morgan, with the ball slipping underneath her and falling to Emily Richards, who was on hand to convert from close range.

A well-worked team move saw Wrexham pull another goal back through Olivia Fuller in added time, but the Swans held firm in the closing stages to secure their place in the final.
