Michael Obafemi believes there is more to come from him in Swansea City colours after a strong end to the 2021-22 campaign.

The forward admits he had a slow start to life in SA1 but grew in confidence as he got used to his team-mates, his surroundings and Russell Martin’s playing style.

After scoring just once in prior to February, he came into his own in the latter stages of the season scoring 11 times in the final 19 matches and contributing to the Swans best form of the season throughout March and April.

His opening goal against Cardiff City on April 2 was voted goal of the season at the end of the season player awards. He was in the right place to finish off the flowing team move on the sixth minute and the forward said the goal summed up his personal improvement throughout the campaign.

Turning his attention to the upcoming campaign, Obafemi believes that fans will see an even better version of him next season.

“Pre-season will be a big boost,” he said.

“I haven’t really had many pre-seasons with a first team but I feel like it will be good to have that time and fitness going in the season.

“I feel like this is just the beginning.

“I had a slow start, but what the fans have seen is just a little glimpse of what I know I can do.”
