Nathan Wood | We feel we still have a lot to prove

Defender Nathan Wood was pleased with the victory over Huddersfield Town, but believes Swansea City still have plenty to prove over the remainder of the season.

Ryan Manning’s deflected effort in the second half was the only goal of the game while a strong defensive performance limited The Terriers to just a single shot on target.

Saturday’s 1-0 victory took the Swans unbeaten run to five, with Russell Martin's side keeping four clean sheets along the way.

“The game was tough,” admitted Wood.

“It was frustrating, the way they set up is difficult to play against and you have to keep your composure.

"In the first half, I felt myself getting a bit frustrated because it’s hard to play against teams who sit off, but it’s good experience because you will play teams who set up like that throughout your career.

“I’m glad we got the win and the clean sheet again because that’s massive for us.

“We believe as a team that if we keep a clean sheet then we’ll win a lot of games.

“It’s something we haven’t done well enough this season and I feel like now we’re building a bit of momentum.

“I think we’re quite level headed as a group. We know how to enjoy the wins, but even when we’re going through rough patches I think around the group it’s the same.

“But I can definitely feel the difference on the pitch, especially the way we’re starting games and it can’t harm you when you’re winning games and keeping clean sheets and picking up points.

“Because of where we are in the league, we’re focusing on winning games and picking up results. We feel like we’ve got a lot to prove as individuals and as a team.”
