Numbers game: Swans v Blackburn

23rd October
First team

Swansea City will look to bounce back following successive defeats when they take on Blackburn Rovers tonight (7.45pm).

We check out the key numbers heading into another important Championship encounter for Graham Potter’s team.

SWANS

8 – The Swans have taken eight points on home soil so far this season compared to nine on the road. Only five Championship teams have banked fewer home points so far – QPR, Bolton, Reading, Hull, Ipswich – and all of them are below Potter’s men in the table.

0 – The Swans are the only team in the Championship who are still to score from a set-piece this season.

2 – The Swans had two men sent off when they last played Blackburn, in an FA Cup game in 2015. Kyle Bartley and Gylfi Sigurdsson both saw red as the Swans went down 3-1 at Ewood Park.

3 – The last league encounter between these clubs, in the top flight in 2012, was more enjoyable from the Swans’ perspective. Sigurdsson and Nathan Dyer were both on target for Brendan Rodgers’s team, with a Scott Dann own goal completing a 3-0 win.

13 – Connor Roberts has started all 13 of the Swans’ league games so far this season. The same is true of Mike van der Hoorn but, unlike Roberts, the Dutchman has not played all 1170 minutes of the Championship campaign.

3 – The Swans have not lost three successive league games outside the top flight since August 2009. They go into this match on the back of Championship defeats to Ipswich and Aston Villa.

BLACKBURN

11 – Blackburn will be looking to continue their impressive away form tonight, having taken 11 points from their six Championship games on the road so far this season.

3 – Tony Mowbray’s team have registered three away league victories already this season, having triumphed at Hull, Stoke and Bolton.

0 – Mowbray has lost all three of his previous managerial meetings with the Swans. They all came when he was Middlesbrough manager.

8 – Bradley Dack leads the goalscoring charts at Blackburn this season having netted eight times already.

40 – Danny Graham has scored 40 goals in 119 appearances for Blackburn since joining them – initially on loan – from Sunderland in 2016.

5 – Graham will tonight aim to become the fifth former Swan to score against the Liberty club this season, following Pablo Hernandez, Joe Allen, Gwion Edwards and Tammy Abraham.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Swans have faced Blackburn on 39 occasions stretching back to an FA Cup encounter which went the home side’s way at Vetch Field 103 years ago. It is Rovers who have the better record overall, with 22 wins compared to the Swans’ 13.
