Swansea City 2 Reading 0

Championship - October 27, 2018

Oli McBurnie bagged a brace as the Swans made it back-to-back home wins with a 2-0 victory over Reading.

The Scot, without a goal in eight games, struck in either half as ex-Swans boss Paul Clement saw his side beaten on his old stamping ground.

McBurnie fired home the opener in the 38th minute after the impressive Daniel James had been fouled in the box by Andy Yiadom.

Then McBurnie settled the home nerves with six minutes left as he tapped home his sixth goal of the season following a low cross from James.

Premier League – October 6, 2012

Michu Reading

The Swans fought back to claim a point in an exciting home encounter with Reading.

Second-half goals from Michu and Wayne Routledge saw the Swans secure a deserved point in a Premier League clash back in 2012.

Pavel Pogrebnyak had put the visitors ahead on the half-hour before Noel Hunt’s close-range volley sent Michael Laudrup’s side into the break with a mountain to climb.

And it wasn’t until the 71st minute that the Swans’ responded through Michu, who headed Routledge’s deflected cross past Alex McCarthy at his near post.

Provider turned finisher minutes later when Routledge played a neat one-two with Luke Moore before levelling the scores.

The Swans might have claimed a famous win late on when Reading defender Nicky Shorey appeared to handle the ball inside the area, but no penalty was given.

Championship – January 1, 2011

Darren Pratley’s fifth goal of the season ensured Brendan Rodgers’s Swansea City side made a positive start to the new year.

Goalkeeper Dorus de Vries was in excellent form for the home side, denying Alex Pearce, Shane Long and Simon Church with saves of the highest calibre.

The visitors continued to apply pressure but a succession of blocks from Swans captain Garry Monk denied Reading an equaliser.

Pratley’s 65th-minute goal ended Reading’s eight-match unbeaten run and sent the Swans second in the Championship – their highest league position for 27 years.

Championship – January 17, 2009

High-flying Reading were seen off by Roberto Martinez’s Swansea City side in this Championship clash in 2009.

The Swans had been thrashed at Reading earlier in the season, when they were finding their feet in the second tier following the previous campaign’s League One title success.

But it was a different story as the Royals came to Wales.

Jason Scotland scored his seventh goal in as many games to put the home side ahead on the stroke of half-time before setting up Andrea Orlandi to secure the points late on.

Swans winger Nathan Dyer looked dangerous on what was his first start since joining on loan from Southampton.

Royals defender Liam Rosenior was sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half, adding to the misery for the visitors as they suffered a first defeat in two months.
