Plenty to play for, says van der Hoorn

Mike van der Hoorn believes the Swans have plenty to play for this season as they encounter two big games in their campaign.

Graham Potter’s side travel to West Brom on Wednesday night sitting eight points off the play-off spots in the Championship - with a game in hand - following a 1-0 defeat to league leaders Norwich City on Friday night.

It proved a harsh defeat for the visitors, who had enjoyed more possession, attempts at goal and shots on target than the Canaries.

Now they visit a West Brom side pushing hard for promotion while Premier League champions Manchester City head to the Liberty on Saturday with a place in the FA Cup semi-final at stake.

“We have plenty to play for this season. This is the second game of a big week for us, and it’s something we must relish," said the Dutch defender.

“We have to show up and do our thing. Against Norwich we just didn’t have the finishing touch, so we can do good things if can add that to our game on Wednesday.

“Of course, we have Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday, which is a massive game for us as we want to reach the semi-finals.

“But the most important game for us right now is West Brom on Wednesday.

“We played well against Norwich and didn’t get anything from the game, which was hard on us, but now we must play as well – if not better – and get something at West Brom.”
