Preview | Manchester City U18s v Swansea City U18s
Swansea City Under-18s will aim to boost their chances of progression to the Premier League Cup knockout stages when they face Manchester City (11am).
Currently second in Group D with three points from their opening two games, only a victory would be enough to put the Swans in contention to advance beyond the opening hurdle of the competition for the first time.
With only the six group winners and two best runners-up assured of a place in the quarter-finals, Anthony Wright’s side will be desperately seeking a positive result at the Academy Stadium.
They certainly face a tricky test in City, who have enjoyed a 100 per cent start in Group D – scoring eight goals and conceding just once along the way.
Gareth Taylor’s side are also leading the way in Premier League North, having collected 21 points from their opening nine games.
Although, they do welcome the Swans fresh from a 2-1 defeat against rivals Manchester United before the international break.
