Preview | Southampton U18s v Swansea City U18s

22nd January
Ali Al-Hamadi

Swansea City Under-18s will be aiming to record their third straight victory over Southampton when they travel to Staplewood on Thursday (1pm).

The young Swans head to Hampshire looking to maintain their impressive record against the Saints this season.

Anthony Wright’s side were 4-2 winners when the sides met at Landore in Premier League South in August, while they also prevailed 3-1 in the Premier League Cup two months later.

Ali Al-Hamadi scored three times across those two games, and the Iraqi-born forward will be looking to add to his tally of six goals for Swansea’s age-grade sides this term.

Although, it is worth noting that both victories have provided the only occasions in which the Swans have tasted success in 2019-20.

They are currently on a six-game winless run in all competitions – conceding 30 goals during that span – but the form book does slightly favour them heading into this contest.

Paul Hardyman’s Southampton have lost each of their last nine matches on home soil stretching back to April 2019.
