Preview: Swans U21s v Bristol Rovers

Swansea City Under-21s continue their Checkatrade Trophy campaign this evening when they welcome Bristol Rovers to the Liberty Stadium (7.45pm).

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the second-round clash.


FORM

The young Swans are appearing in the knockout stages of this competition for a third consecutive year.

Despite opening with a defeat by Stevenage, they recovered with 1-0 victories over AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic which saw them top Southern Group G.

Rovers, who are two-time finalists in this competition, finished second in Group D after wins over Yeovil Town and West Ham United Under-21s.

However, Darrell Clarke’s side arrive at the Liberty on a run of five consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Swans defender Joe Lewis: “It doesn’t get much better at this level. When I was younger, the night games at the Liberty were always my favourites to come and watch. There is always a brilliant atmosphere and it is a great opportunity for us.”

Bristol Rovers assistant Marcus Stewart: “We’re four games away from getting to Wembley, so tonight provides a chance for us to get through to the next round of this competition and build some confidence and momentum."
