Preview: Swans U23s v Chelsea U23s

2nd September

Swansea City Under-23s return to Premier League 2 action this afternoon when they entertain Chelsea at Landore (3pm).

Here is all you need to know ahead of the young Swans’ fourth league game of the season.

FORM

The Swans are aiming to record their first victory of the Premier League 2 season, having collected two draws and a defeat from their opening three games.

Following a 1-0 defeat by Leicester City on the opening weekend, the development side drew 1-1 with Derby County before holding Everton to a goalless stalemate at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Derby at Stamford Bridge last week.

That was the young Blues’ first reverse of the season, having drawn 1-1 with Everton and beaten newly promoted Blackburn Rovers 3-0 in their opening two matches.

PRE-MATCH VIEW

Swans forward Liam Cullen: “When you get your first win, it sets you off and running and that’s what we need.”

REMEMBER THE LAST TIME?

The Swans did the double over Chelsea in Premier League 2 last season.

Following an impressive 3-1 victory away from home – thanks to Oli McBurnie’s hat-trick – they were also 2-0 winners at Landore.

Adam King broke the deadlock after 14 minutes before Liam Cullen wrapped up the points in stoppage time.
