Swansea City round off Easter Bank Holiday on home turf as they welcome automatic promotion-chasing Middlesbrough to the Swansea.com Stadium (5.30pm).

Vitor Matos' side secured a point last time out with a dramatic fightback at Bramall Lane, coming from 3-1 down to level thanks to goals from Adam Idah and Jisung Eom.

Middlesbrough will look to bounce back from their recent loss to fellow promotion rivals Millwall with the Lions claiming a crucial win on Teesside on Friday.

Today's match is our dedicated Junior Jacks Takeover Day! Keep an eye out on our socials to see how they get on as our young fans take on a number of roles around the club.

Team news

Ethan Galbraith

Vitor Matos confirmed Ethan Galbraith will miss the remainder of the season having picked up a calf problem while on international duty with Northern Ireland.

Josh Key remains sidelined with a hip problem, while the head coach will have to assess the freshness of his squad with another game coming quickly on the back of the international break.

The visitors, meanwhile, look set to be without Hayden Hackney, Morgan Whittaker and Leo Castledine after they sat our Friday's meeting with Millwall.

Vitor Matos press

Vitor Matos: "The first thing we need to do is recover as well as we can, and find the proper mix of freshness and the dynamic inside the team.

"Then we need to show the same mentality we showed at Sheffield United as a starting point to build from.

"It will be an interesting game, they are fighting for promotion so it's a very important game for them too.

"They are a very good team, they like to dominate with the ball and play with a lot of fluidity.

"We need to understand that in those moments we will have an opportunity to put pressure on them and we need to make sure we are ready for those."

Kim Hellberg: "It's my responsibility [to lift the players]. It's all about my way of seeing things. It's all about my way of helping them. And that's the main message.

"It's my job to try to do it better because they are giving everything they can for this shirt and for the club. I think they are doing unbelievable work on the football pitch.

“I see a team that fights, they run, they play football that no one else does, create a lot of opportunities and concede almost nothing. So it's up to me to help them better, that's the responsibility.

“This weekend my responsibility will be to give a lot of energy to them and help them and try to show them the way and help them in that part depending on what they need."

Meet the officials

Matthew Donohue

Matthew Donohue will be the referee when Swansea City take on Middlesbrough at the Swansea.com Stadium on Monday (5.30pm).

This will be the first time he has overseen a Swans match this term. Last season he took charge of one, a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

The Manchester-based official climbed the ranks quickly, earning three successive promotions which saw him progress from National League North to the EFL’s List of Referees between 2016 and 2018.

The former primary school teacher first took charge of a Swans match in February 2021 – a 3-2 home defeat to Derby County.

So far this season he has taken charge of 27 matches, handing out 109 yellow cards and eight reds.

Remember the last time?

Jisung Eom’s first Swansea City goal earned his side a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough as the Swans made it back-to-back home wins.

Eom gave the hosts the lead with a fine curling effort from the edge of the box to open his account in SA1.

The win made it three games unbeaten for the Swans as they climbed to 15th in the Championship table.
