Preview | Swansea City v Sheffield United

16th August
First team
Swansea.com Stadium

Swansea City are on home turf for the first time in the Championship this season as they prepare to host Sheffield United at the Swansea.com Stadium (3pm).

Both sides are looking for their first league wins of the season, but the hosts produced a positive performance and result in midweek as they progressed in the Carabao Cup.

The Blades have lost both their competitive games so far this term, but they were beaten play-off finalists last term and boast a squad including plenty of Premier League experience.

Team news

Ben Cabango

Ben Cabango is available after suffering cramp in the closing stages at Middlesbrough last weekend, as is Kaelan Casey following his assured display against Crawley.

Ricardo Santos (knee) and Filip Lissah (ankle) are the only absentees for the hosts.

Pre-match views

Alan Sheehan: "I know they have lost their first two games, but this is a team who were just a game away from going to the Premier League last season.

"They have a lot of players with Premier League experience, and I don't think their results have necessarily been a reflection of how they have performed.

"For us we know the difficult challenge we are going to face, but we want to build on the feeling we had at home at the end of last season.

"There was a wonderful energy around the stadium and we want to keep that going because home form is always very important."

Ruben Selles: “I expect a very difficult match, we went there with Hull last season and they were the team with the most success in their high pressure in the 13 games under Alan (Sheehan). They have a identity under him and they will be competitive and never give up.

"But we are going to fight with everything we have to get that first win of the season and to do it with the fans at the stadium would be nice, it isn't going to be easy, but we have the ability and capability to do it."

Remember the last time?

Harry Darling Red card

Ten-man Swansea City suffered defeat to high-flying Sheffield United after a second-half red card and penalty when the Blades last visited the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans had deservedly led at the interval courtesy of Florian Bianchini’s close-range finish.

But the visitors levelled through Rhian Brewster early in the second period, before Harry Darling was harshly dismissed for a challenge on the same player just minutes later.

And Harrison Burrows went on to strike the winner from the penalty spot for the Blades.
