Preview | Swansea City Women v Cardiff Metropolitan Women
Swansea City Women will look to make it three Genero Adran Premier wins on the bounce when they face newly-promoted Cardiff Met at the ThermaGlaze Ground on Sunday (3pm kick-off).
The Swans will be looking to continue their bright start to the campaign, having followed up an opening-day south Wales derby victory over Cardiff City with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue last Sunday.
An Aimee Deacon penalty shortly before half-time proved the difference against the Seasiders, although Swansea had opportunities to extend their advantage, with Chloe Chivers and Caitlin Seaborne both striking the woodwork.
Yzzy Taylor’s side currently sit level on points with reigning champions Wrexham and The New Saints, with all three sides having taken maximum points from their opening two fixtures.
Cardiff Met will be looking to build on their first point of the campaign after playing out a 1-1 draw with Briton Ferry Llansawel last weekend.

Head coach Yzzy Taylor: “We’ve had a great start and we’re looking forward to Cardiff Met. Two wins from two has been great, and they were two completely different kinds of games, so we expect the same again this weekend.
“We have a good level of momentum with six points from six, but we want to make it nine from nine this weekend.
“I think it’s always one of those games. Swansea City against Cardiff Met is one of the longest-standing fixtures within this league. There have been some really good and competitive games over the years, and I’m sure this one will be no different.
“The Cardiff home game was superb. The atmosphere was great and we’re really appreciative of the fans who came out to support us. For us, we want to try and make our games here a bit of a fortress in this new era we’re building towards, but we also want to make sure that when the fans do come out, they have something to celebrate as well.
“It’s important for teams when they get promoted into this league to put in strong performances over the first few games. They’ll be delighted with the point at Ferry last week, and I think that shows their attitude and how they want to attack this league.
“We know they’ll be robust and resilient, so we need to make sure our game plan is ready to combat that.”
Last time out - 9th November 2025
Swansea City Women booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Genero Adran Trophy following a comfortable 4-0 victory over Cardiff Met at Llandarcy last November.
A brace from Aimee Deacon and a strike from Stacey John saw the Swans race into a three-goal lead before the break, with Emily Richards adding a late fourth.
The Swans’ defensive structure was excellent throughout, allowing the Archers no clear-cut opportunities across the 90 minutes.
It took the hosts just 13 minutes to break the deadlock, capitalising on an aggressive press to win the ball high up the pitch. Deacon was released and drove into the area before sending a curling effort towards the far corner, which took a deflection on its way past Verity Jones and into the net.
The Swans were rewarded for their control with a second goal 10 minutes before half-time. Richards found John on the edge of the area, and the midfielder unleashed a superb 20-yard strike which sailed over Jones and into the net.
Swansea refused to let up and added a third just eight minutes later following some neat link-up play between John and Deacon. The latter found space inside the area before calmly firing past Jones for her second of the afternoon and eighth goal of the season.
Taylor’s side remained in control for much of the second half without creating too many opportunities until the final 20 minutes, when Ellie Lake tested Jones from distance, with the goalkeeper turning her effort over the bar.
However, the Swans added a fourth with nine minutes remaining as Chloe Chivers drove down the right flank and delivered a pinpoint ball across the face of goal, with Richards on hand to convert from close range and round off a superb afternoon’s work for the hosts.
