Swans Women celebration vs Cardiff Met

Swansea City Women return to Llandarcy for the south Wales derby as they welcome rivals Cardiff City Women in the Genero Adran Premier this afternoon (2pm kick-off).

The Swans go into the fixture following a strong run of recent form, having won their last four games in all competitions.

In their last outing, the Swans ran out impressive 4-0 winners over Aberystwyth Town Women, with Katy Hosford netting twice, while Jess Williams and Monet Legall were also on the scoresheet.

Swansea will be looking to hand Cardiff a first league defeat since March 2022, with the Bluebirds coming into the game on a five-match winning run.

The Bluebirds have also been in fine scoring form, putting six past Barry at the Cardiff City Stadium last time out.

The fixture sees the top two in the table go head to head, with the Swans looking to close the gap to the current leaders.

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

Chris Church Swans Women

Swansea City Women's interim coach Chris Church: “It doesn’t get much bigger than the south Wales derby, it means a lot to both teams.

“If we can keep playing the way we have been, it will help massively, It’s been really pleasing recently and long may that continue.

“They did well last season, but let’s not forget that we are six-times champions, it’s about how we perform on the day and how we handle that occasion.

“We want to make Llandarcy a fortress, we want it to be a hard place to come like it has been previously and get big results on home soil.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

The two sides last met in the last in the final game of the 2022-23 campaign, with the Bluebirds coming out on top by three goals to one.

The Swans took the lead over the champions through a stunning strike by Katy Hosford, but a deflected Lily Billingham effort would level for the hosts soon after.

Second-half goals from Rhianne Oakley and substitute Zoe Atkins were enough to seal three points for the hosts.
