Price hoping to repay faith

28th September

Tom Price is hoping to repay the faith of Cameron Toshack and Gary Richards after making his first start for Swansea City Under-23s.

The 18-year-old midfielder played the first 77 minutes of the development side’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal B in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday.

Price made the step up to the under-23s side in the summer after signing his first professional deal with the club he joined at the age of nine.

And he is hopeful his start against Villarreal will be the first of many this season.

“I’m delighted to make my first start,” said local lad Price.

“It has been difficult making the step up from under-18 to under-23 football, but I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I’ve been working hard in training to get my chance. I’m happy to be given the nod and felt like I did well.

“It was a really big game and for me to play shows that the coaches have trust in me.

“Hopefully, I can repay that throughout the season by cementing my place in the team.”

Price could feature once again for the under-23s when they face Manchester City in Premier League 2 at Landore on Saturday (3pm).
