Rangel named Swans skipper

Angel Rangel has been named Swansea City’s new club captain.

The experienced defender was selected as the man to take the armband by boss Paul Clement after Leon Britton was made the Swans’ player-assistant coach.

Rangel has been a superb servant for the Swans, having played more than 370 games for the club since arriving from his native Spain back in 2007.

The right-back is popular inside the dressing room and among Swans fans, and is known as a fine professional who leads by example on the training ground.

Rangel is the senior figure in the Swans squad and was seen by Clement as the obvious man to succeed Britton following his change of role. He has captained the team on a number of occasions in the past.

Full reaction to follow.
