Tivonge Rushesha vs QPR

Swansea City Under-23s were held to a goalless draw away at Barnsley in the Professional Development League.

Barnsley hosted the Swans at their Oakwell Stadium and both teams seemed to relish the chance of playing at the famous old stadium.

However, neither side could break the deadlock despite both teams coming close on a number of occasions.

The first real chance of the game fell to the hosts, Will Lancaster’s set-piece finding the head of David Bremang, who forced a good save from Swansea's trialist goalkeeper.

From the resulting corner, Connor Hodson struck a volley from the edge of the box that flew just over the crossbar.

Swansea had chances of their own late into the first half, Ruben Davies intercepting a pass in the Barnsley box before laying off to Sam Leverett, but the midfielder's effort was fired over the bar.

Cameron Evans also came close, firing an effort from the edge of the box that would fly just past the post.

Substitute Dylan Morgan then looked to have put the Swans ahead, Joe Thomas’ low ball finding the forward for a simple tap in, but he was ruled to be offside by the linesman.

Barnsley responded with Jordan Helliwell finding the side-netting after some good passing play found him in space.

Keegan Hartley brought the trialist goalkeeper into action once again, with Barnsley breaking before Hartley’s curling effort forced a good save to keep the game at 0-0.

And there would be no breakthrough as the sides took a point apiece from the contest.

Swansea City Under-23s now have just under two weeks before their next Professional Development League fixture, when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Swansea.com Stadium on Monday, April 4.
