Swansea City Under-18s suffered their first defeat of the 2026-27 campaign as they lost 3-1 to Bristol City at the Robins High Performance Centre.

Oliver Elsworthy opened the scoring 35th minute, before strikes from Shay Plummer and Rafe McDonagh extended the Young Robins’ lead after the break.

Harvey Gray scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 83rd minute, while Jayden Moyo was sent off late on after receiving a second yellow card.

The visitors grew into the game as the half progressed, as the trialist goalkeeper was called into action to deny Solomon Baker in the 21st minute, before making another key intervention to keep out Kalaeb Meron moments later.

With ten minutes remaining before the interval, City found the breakthrough as Chiswell picked out Elsworthy with a pinpoint cross, with the forward directing a perfectly struck volley into the bottom-right corner.

Kai Rhodes looked to level in the final moments of the half but the trialist shot-stopper pulled off another crucial save to keep the Robins' lead intact.

Swansea continued to push for an equaliser after the restart, with Bristol’s keeper called upon within five minutes to deny Ifan Harding from close range, before then preventing a curling effort from Meron from sneaking in at the near post.

A quick counter attack saw the Young Robins double their lead in the 62nd minute, as Plummer broke down the left before bending his effort past Jakub Nowak and into the bottom-right corner.

With 73 minutes played, McDonagh extended the lead to three, as he slotted home one-on-one with Nowak.

The Swans pulled a goal back ten minutes later, as second-half substitute Gray powered an effort past the trialist. Despite being reduced to ten with five minutes remaining after Moyo was shown his second yellow card, Challis’ side held firm to prevent a late comeback.
