Emily Thomas Swans Women v Cardiff Met

A five-star showing from Emily Thomas set Swansea City Women on their way to an emphatic victory at Llandudno Ladies in the last 16 of the Genero Adran Trophy.

There were six different scorers for the visitors, with Thomas’ quintet of strikes added to by braces for Chloe Chivers, Robyn Pinder and Stacey John-Davis, while captain Katy Hosford and Jess Williams were also on the scoresheet as the Swans booked their place in the quarter-finals.

The Swans had got off to the perfect start when Thomas netted her first goal for the club, poking home a great ball from Chivers after just two minutes.

Chivers continued her fine scoring form - having scored six goals at Cwmbran last time out - by doubling the lead just six minutes later. A great ball from Hosford found the forward at the back post to power home a low shot.

Thomas had her second of the game - and Swansea’s third - just 15 minutes in, closing down the Llandudno goalkeeper and tackling her to set up a simple finish.

She completed her hat-trick five minutes later as another good ball from Chivers allowed the forward to apply a simple finish.

Despite the Swans dominance, Llandudno had chances to trim their deficit, with Stevie Donougher forcing a good save from keeper Opal Rayner to preserve her clean sheet.

Thomas continued her fine scoring form, adding her fourth of the game 28 minutes in by converting a low cross from Hosford.

And Pinder would soon get involved in the scoring, making it 6-0 with a back-post header thanks to a fine cross from Chivers.

Forward Pinder would net once again for the Swans just before the break with her tidy finish sending the Swans into half-time with a seven-goal lead.

The Swans dominance continued into the second half, Chivers getting her second goal of the afternoon after a great ball from Thomas.

Hosford came close on a number of occasions, hitting the post and forcing a good save from the substitute Llandudno goalkeeper.

Thomas added her fifth and Swansea’s ninth goal as her strike from the edge of the box flew into the top-right corner of the net.

The goals kept coming. Substitute John-Davis brought up double figures for the Swans when substitute Sammy Wynne set up the forward for a nice finish inside the area.

Hosford got her goal after going close on multiple occasions; the captain finding the net from a tight angle.

Williams got in on the action, steering home a header at the back post from a Hosford cross to bring up a dozen for the Swans.

But there was still time for John-Davis to round things off as a powerful shot from just inside the box gave the keeper no chance.
