Swansea City Ladies missed out on a WPWL League Cup semi-final place after a late strike from Cyncoed’s Gwen Davies secured a 3-2 victory for the visitors at Llandarcy on Sunday.

The Swans Ladies had raced out of the blocks, with Stacey John-Davis scoring the opener in the seventh minute when she stabbed home from close range.

Just minutes later, a great effort from Sarah Adams called Welsh international keeper Laura O’Sullivan into action, while a powerful low shot from Jodie Passmore narrowly missed the target.

A scramble in the box in the 23rd minute created a whole host of chances for the home side but they were to double their advantage.

Cyncoed equalised after a goalmouth scramble in the 38th minute through Lauren Harris and the scores remained level at the break.

Adams restored the Swans’ lead just minutes into the second half with a low strike.

However, it did not take long for Cyncoed to equalise once again as Rosina Hill beat Swans keeper Gemma Border from inside the box in the 55th minute to make the score 2-2.

Cyncoed captain Davies then netted with an impressive lofted strike in the 86th minute to seal the victory for her side.
