Swansea City returned to winning ways as they eased to victory over Burnley to maintain their unbeaten home record in the Championship at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The hosts had held a two-goal lead at the interval after Adam Idah and Moussa Yeo profited from excellent pressing work to find the net.

The Clarets responded with a Largie Ramazani strike, but Zan Vipotnik ensured the three points were claimed as he finished from Ronald’s unselfish lay-off.

It was an entertaining contest, and one where Swansea’s energy and work ethic regularly troubled and unsettled the visitors, with Elijah Just, Melker Widell and Stephen Eustaquio absolutely tireless in the middle of the park.

The result moved the Swans back up into the top two with one more game to come before the international break.

Head coach Vitor Matos had brought Josh Key, Widell, Eustaquio and Idah into the starting line-up as they played a fifth game in 15 days.

It proved an open start, Swansea looking to pen the visitors in their area, and the Clarets looking to threaten in behind with Lawrence Vigouroux getting off his line quickly to quell once such attack.

Burnley then wasted a big chance when Zeki Amdouni dragged wastefully wide having chased a ball into the channel and got the better of Stephen Welsh.

At the other end, Yeo fired over the bar after fine hold-up play by Idah, and the Republic of Ireland international then gave the hosts the lead.

The striker worked hard to close down what looked a lost cause as Burnley sent a loose ball back to keeper Max Weiss, but when he hesitated Idah pounced to block his attempted pass and roll the ball into an unguarded net.

It was nearly 2-0 moments later as Widell wriggled his way beyond three defenders and threaded a pass to Yeo, but he could not get enough purchase on his shot after beating Weiss to the ball.

Burnley had enjoyed some bright passages of play but whenever Swansea had the chance to jump to press high, the hosts were often able to go marauding into big pockets of space.

That was making for an entertaining contest, and it also played a part in a second goal for the hosts.

A blind pass on halfway was picked off by Elijah Just, who quickly fed Yeo. The winger drove forward, drew the cover to him, and then jinked inside before dispatching a low drive into the bottom corner.

It looked like the Swans should have had a penalty a few minutes later when Ugo Raghouber pulled back Widell as the midfielder burst beyond him to reach a pass, but referee James Bell was not interested.

Swansea looked to have control, but it required an outstanding save from Lawrence Vigouroux to preserve their two-goal advantage at the interval as he adjusted to tip Aaron Ramsey’s deflected strike onto the underside of the bar before it was scrambled away to safety.

Weiss made a great save of his own at the other end to tip away Idah’s near post effort with more goals looking inevitable and Weiss lucky to get away with another moment of uncertainty as he denied Yeo from a raking Just pass.

But Burnley recovered and a raking long pass saw Ramazani adjudged to have beat the offside trap to fire home at the near post and halve their deficit.

The visitors pressed on with renewed vigour, but they were undone by a wonderful team goal with 22 minutes to play.

Neat interplay in midfield ended with Marko Stamenic unleashing a wonderful pass to find Ronald’s run in behind the defence. The Brazilian bore down on goal and calmly laid the ball off for Vipotnik to apply the finish touch and re-establish Swansea’s two-goal lead.

It nearly got worse for Burnley, Weiss parrying a Just drive before Ronald volleyed the follow up over the bar, and Widell's deflected strike flew just wide of the post as the Swans claimed the spoils.
