Swansea City Under-21s returned to winning ways in the Professional Development League with a 4-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Monday night.

Kai Rhodes, Joe Davies and Yorri Griffith were all on target as the Swans produced a dominant first-half display to establish a three-goal lead at the break.

Griffith added his second after the restart, while Ryan Kolli scored twice for QPR, but Swansea's commanding first-half performance ultimately proved decisive as they secured a deserved three points.

There was little to separate the sides during the opening stages, before the Swans broke the deadlock on 16 minutes. Rhodes drove forward down the left before seeing his dangerous delivery take a deflection and loop over QPR goalkeeper Charlie Warren and into the net.

QPR looked to respond immediately, with Ridwanullahi Aying finding space on the edge of the box, but his low effort was brilliantly blocked by Harlan Perry.

Swansea doubled their advantage moments later following a superb move from back to front. Davies eventually found space behind the R's defence before racing through on goal and keeping his composure to round the advancing Warren and slot into an empty net.

The hosts continued to threaten as the half-time whistle approached, with Perry trying his luck from distance, though his effort sailed over the crossbar.

But there was still time for a third before the interval. Griffith showed excellent strength and skill to fend off several QPR defenders before sending a low volley into the far corner, giving the Swans a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

QPR came out looking to reduce the deficit after the restart and pulled one back 11 minutes into the second half. Kolli raced beyond the Swansea defence before curling a superb effort beyond the reach of Jakub Nowak.

The Swans responded almost immediately, with Griffith grabbing his second of the night just five minutes later. The midfielder won possession high up the pitch before driving forward and finishing well to restore Swansea's three-goal advantage.

Swansea continued to search for a fifth, with Seb Drabrowski combining well with Ramon Rees-Siso before the full-back saw his header sail over the crossbar with 15 minutes remaining.

Kolli grabbed his second of the night with 10 minutes to play, producing another fine finish to give QPR hope of a late comeback.

However, the Swans stood firm during the closing stages to secure a convincing victory and return to winning ways in the Professional Development League.
