Report | Weston-super-Mare 3 Swansea City Under-23s 0

Swansea City Under-23s went down 3-0 in their latest pre-season friendly against Weston-super-Mare.

It proved a first defeat of pre-season for Kristian O’Leary’s side, who had gone into the game on the back of victories over Trefelin, Barry Town and Larkhall.

But the Southern League Premier South side proved too much for the under-23s, who trailed after 20 minutes after Sam Avery’s header was touched in by Jason Pope.

The visitors thought they had levelled just before the break when Geoff Bony steered home Jacob Jones’ cross, but the striker was flagged offside.

After the break, the hosts were quick out of the blocks and Keiran Thomas fired home from the edge of the box in the 48th minute.

The final goal of the afternoon came with 16 minutes remaining as Ben Whitehead nodded home a corner from six yards out.

Next up for the under-23s is a home clash with Bath on Tuesday (7.30pm).
