Rhian Brewster | Standard set for Swansea City

23rd June

Goalscorer Rhian Brewster believes Swansea City have set the standard for their remaining matches following a convincing 3-0 win at Middlesbrough.

In the Championship’s first game since the league’s suspension following the coronavirus outbreak, Steve Cooper’s side brought all three points back to SA1 thanks to a convincing victory at the Riverside Stadium.

Brewster was at the heart of the scoring, bagging a brace before Andre Ayew added the third from the penalty spot to give the Swans a commanding 3-0 lead going into the break.

It could have been more had the post not denied Aldo Kalulu, Brewster and sub George Byers, but the Swans returned home delighted with their performance.

Brewster took his tally to six in 12 appearances since joining on loan from Liverpool, and the 20-year-old feels the standard has been set for the Swans’ eight remaining matches in the regular season.

“A 3-0 win away from home is a great result,” beamed Brewster. “If you’d have said we’d be 3-0 up before half-time then I may not have believed you.

“We made a great start to the game and in the second half we grinded it out.

“We set the boundaries early on, but it’s hard to keep that up all game.

“We have eight games to play, so there’s lots on the line. Teams will drop points and let’s hope we keep winning.

“We have set the bar, now we can’t fall below that.”
